Foster Care Training – A state by state guide. Below is a brief description of what each state requires for foster care training: Alabama – Foster care training of 30 hours. Alabama does have different types of foster care that may require different types of training. California - No information provided, for info please e-mail fosteryouthhelp@dss.ca.gov. Colorado- Foster parents are required to attend training classes as part of the certification process. Delaware- Foster care training of nine weeks is required. For more information call 1-800-464-4357. District of Columbia-Foster care training twice weekly for five weeks is required.
